Portland's namesake. Compliments of Vaikunda Raja of Wikipedia.
I’ve created this blog to express my gratitude for Portland, the “City of Roses,” a city which I regret not having grown up in my entire life. I haven’t experienced OMSI as a child, nor have I taken to the zoo in the prime of one’s affinity for animals, but I’ve seen what Portland has to offer its people; a high quality of life, and a mindset of social justice and environmental activism.
It is this mindset that has formed my outlook as a global citizen and active participant in democracy. I intend to use this blog as an avenue of information that promotes Portland’s progressive nature as a hotbed of political and social advocacy. PDXme is a source for my reflections on Portland and its sights, issues and events that interest and inspire me.
Perhaps steeped inextricably with idealistic undertones, there will be no apologies made for optimism or irrational thinking. With perceiving the future comes misconceptions and follies too many to mention here. The idea that Portland started from a toss of a coin in 1845 to become an urban environment founded upon the principles of progress, decency, and acceptance, is truly remarkable. It is my wish that PDXme exudes these principals in an attempt to showcase Portland’s pioneer spirit.
